Deep Horoscope

I found this unusual classified ad in a small California newspaper. "Wanted: Someone to travel backwards in time with me. This is not a joke. You must be unafraid to see the person you used to be, and you've got to keep a wide-open mind about the past -- I mean more wide-open than you have ever been able to. I have made this trip twice before, and I don't expect any danger, but there may be a bit of a mess. Please bring your own 'cleaning implements,' if you know what I mean." As crazy as it sounds, Gemini, I'm thinking you'd be the right person for this gig. The astrological omens suggest you'll be doing something similar to it anyway.*SACRED ADVERTISEMENTThank your mother for the pain she endured while birthing you. For three minutes on the first Friday of every month, close your eyes and imagine yourself riding a wild horse through a cemetery. Fantasize that your so-called "dark side" is sweet and creamy.

Why is it so hard for Westerners of the last two centuries to feel the intimate presence of the divine intelligences? Every other culture in the history of the world has had a more vital connection with the realm of spirit. According to poet Gary Snyder, California's Yana Indians explained it this way: The gods have retreated to the volcanic recesses of Mt. Lassen, passing the time playing gambling games with magic sticks. They're simply waiting for such a time when human beings will "reform themselves and become 'real people' that spirits might want to associate with once again." Here's why I'm bringing this up, Gemini: I think that right now is a special time in your life when you have the power to become a "real person" with whom the spirits will want to have closer communion.SACRED ADVERTISEMENTDear Gorgeous Genius: You possess exceptional capacities that are absolutely unique. You're a masterpiece unlike any other that has ever lived in the history of the world.Furthermore, the precise instructions you need to ripen into your genius have always been with you, even from the time before you were born. In the words of psychologist James Hillman, you have a soul's code. You might also call it the special mission you came to Earth to carry out; the divine blueprint that contains the open secret of how to be perfectly, unpredictably yourself; the master plan that is your heart's deepest desire.Would you like help in deciphering it? The Divine Intelligence Formerly Known as God is always on call, ready to help. It's your birthright to ask Her a specific question every day about what you need to do next to express your soul's code; it's also your birthright to receive a response. The divine revelation may not be as unambiguous as a little voice in your head. It might appear in the form of a TV commercial, an odd dream, or an encounter with a stranger. It could be demanding and difficult, delivering information you'd rather not have to deal with. Or it might show up as a clear and simple feeling of knowing exactly what to do, and it could be easy and fun.

Thirteen will be your lucky number for the foreseeable future. In fact, a host of things for which the average person has an irrational aversion could be helpful to you. For that matter, influences that you yourself may have considered in the past to be unsympathetic or uncongenial could very well be on your side, and may even conspire to enlighten and delight you. At least temporarily, I urge you to shed your superstitions, suspend your iffy biases, and dismiss your outworn fears.Assume that your drive to experience pleasure isn't a barrier to your spiritual growth, but is in fact essential to it. Proceed on the hypothesis that cultivating joy can make you a more ethical and compassionate person. Imagine that feeling good has something important to teach you every day.*SACRED ADVERTISEMENTTo be the best pronoiac explorer you can be, I suggest you adopt an outlook that combines the rigorous objectivity of a scientist, the "beginner's mind" of Zen Buddhism, the "beginner's heart" of pronoia, and the compassionate friendliness of the Dalai Lama. Blend a scrupulously dispassionate curiosity with a skepticism driven by expansiveness, not spleen. To pull this off, you'll have to be willing to regularly suspend your brilliant theories about the way the world works. Accept with good humor the possibility that what you've learned in the past may not be a reliable guide to understanding the fresh phenomenon that's right in front of you. Be suspicious of your biases, even the rational and benevolent ones. Open your heart as you strip away the interpretations that your emotions might be inclined to impose."Before we can receive the unbiased truth about anything," wrote my teacher Ann Davies, "we have to be ready to ignore what we would like to be true."At the same time, don't turn into a hard-ass, poker-faced robot. Keep your feelings moist and receptive. Remember your natural affection for all of creation. Enjoy the power of tender sympathy as it drives you to probe for the unimaginable revelations of every new moment. "Before we can receive the entire truth about anything," said Ann Davies, "we have to love it."

Step Up

The speech I want to hear from Obama:
OK 'Job creators', I'm going to stop asking you to pay your fair share through taxes because republicans won't let it happen.
I am going to ask you to step up. Your taxes are lower than they have been in decades. You are reaping stellar profits. We are working to reduce regulations. You have no excuse.
You need to start creating jobs. Prove that free markets work.
We are cutting spending, so many Americans will be out of jobs and many will lose much needed assistance.
If charities are so much better than government assistance and Americans are so philanthropic, Prove it.
Step up to take care of those Americans who will lose out on these spending cuts.
Step up and lower the unemployment rate.
Step up and give workers a living wage.
Step up and help educate the children who will suffer when education is cut.
Step up and provide more on the job training, apprenticeships, and tuition assistance for your workers.
Step up and create ways to provide health care to our people that is affordable.

STEP UP!

Options

I try not to be a, "This is how it has to be" person.
I'm all about options
Choices
Variety.

There are many ways to do things
Many ways to see things
Vast interpretations
Many perceptions
Various consequences
Multiple actions.

We need more options.
The more choices people have
The more choices a society has
The better off we all are.
This is freedom.

To find a system, way of life, that works for you
Find what is healthy for you
If you want, find like minded people to share your way of life

And let others do the same

Understand that your way isn't THE way.
and it doesn't have to be

Humans are not inherently enslaved
They enslave themselves
We are not predestined or predetermined
We have a predisposition, a tendency
From Chromosomes to genes to epigenetics to the womb to biology to  the environment
So many divergent paths.

Humans don't have to act a certain way or be a certain way.
There are choices in behavior

Evolution shows that variation is key
We are all different.
We're not supposed to be the same
If we were not diverse, we could not change.
If we can't change, we can't evolve.
If we can't evolve, we can't survive

Do other animals have choices?
Are they more limited than ours?
The only real difference I see between humans and others.

Either Way I'm Celebrating. That's the title of a poetry comic book by Sommer Browning, and I suggest that you consider it as a worthy title for your life in the coming days. The adventure you're in the midst of could evolve in several possible directions, each with a different rhythm and tone, each with a distinct lesson and climax. But regardless of what path you end up taking, I'm almost positive you will have good reasons to throw yourself a party at the end. Having said that, though, I also advise you to decide which version of the story you prefer, then make it your strong intention to materialize it.
